A native of Waterdown Ont, who currently lives in Caledonia Ont, Charlene Parenteau is a naturally talented artist. From early childhood she has lived on a farm which led to her having a passion for horses and wildlife that is clearly visibly represented in her art work. She divides her time between her art work, working in the barn with her horses (both large and small) and training/working with her beloved group of Australian Shepherds.
Much of her work involves the combination of working dogs, horses, children, and their pets. She draws inspiration from her own children at work and play. In fact, most of her work contains images of her children. this results in a powerful blend of emotion and reality. Charlene prefers to work with graphite pencil as a medium to capture these priceless moments because she feels that it best conveys the emotional atmosphere between the children and their treasured pets; she prefers the contrast of the black and white effect. A versatile artist, she is also proficient in the use of pen and ink, and coloured pencil. Charlene's work has been seen in numerous shows throughout Canada and the United States and has been honoured to receive various awards and praises.
Charlene's works of art now show grace the walls and mantles of homes in Belgium, Australia, and Wales, as well as North America.
